What is the difference between MP3 and HD format?

MP3 Format:

  • The audio of songs in MP3 format are typically compressed to make them compatible with mobile phones, laptops, Bluetooth speakers and other portable devices
  • An MP3 song typically has a file size of approximately 8-10 MB

HD Format:

  • Songs in HD or WAV format are typically used for playout on high fidelity speakers and stereo systems. This is because songs in this format are not compressed.
  • The file size of WAV usually is 30 MB

What can I purchase in HD format?

You can purchase individual songs and albums in HD format.

Can I access the Sargeama Music Store on my mobile device?

Yes. You can access, buy and view the list of purchased content on your desktop, laptop, mobile phone and tablet.

If you are an Android/ Windows user, you will be able to download the songs directly to your mobile phones and tablets

If you are an iOS user, you will have to download the songs from your desktop or laptop and then transfer it to your iphone/ipad.

Can I access the Saregama Music Store irrespective of whether I have the internet or not?

You will require the internet to access the Saregama Music Store. However, you will be able to playout the downloaded songs even without the internet, from the music library of your mobile device or the download folder of your desktop/ laptop.

While browsing through the Saregama Music Store, I tried playing a song. It started and then stopped abruptly. Why did this happen?

If you have not purchased a song, you can preview a song for only 90 seconds on the Saregama Music Store.

Your 90 seconds preview got probably over and hence the song stopped playing.

To listen to the complete song, please purchase and download the song.

Is login mandatory to access the Saregama Music Store?

You need to login to purchase or download songs. However, you can browse our collection without being logged in.

What are the different modes of login?

I am trying to sign in to Saregama Music Store via email ID. However, I have forgotten my password. What should I do?

If you have forgotten your password, please follow the simple steps listed below:

  • Go to the sign via email ID tab on the Saregama Music Store
  • Enter your email ID
  • Click 'Forgot Password'
  • You will receive a password reset link from Saregama on your email ID

I signed up using my email account. I want to now login using my G+ ID or my Facebook ID. Will I be able to do this?

You can sign up and then login interchangeably using any mode Facebook, G+ or email ID, as long as your email ID is the same.

I can see a cart symbol on the top right hand corner of the screen. What is it?

Just like any other website, the cart symbol carries a list of all the content you intend to buy.

To add an item to the cart, go to the song/ album of your choice and click the 'Add' button

Once you are done selecting all the songs/ albums that you wish to buy, go ahead and pay for them in a single transaction from the cart.

You can always choose to remove the item later from the cart if you change your mind.

If you have availed an offer by coupon code, this coupon code will reflect in the cart along with the appropriate discount.

If you have not chosen an offer, click on 'Get a coupon code' button to see a list of available offers.

I can see a number on the cart. What does it indicate?

The number on the cart indicates the total number of songs and albums added to your cart.

How do I add a song to the cart?

To add a song to the cart, follow the simple steps given below:

  • Click 'ADD' button given next to each song
  • Select the format of the song you want to buy
  • You will receive a confirmation that the song has been added to the cart

How do I add an album to the cart?

To add an album to the cart, follow the simple steps given below:

  • Select the album you want to buy

Can I buy both the MP3 and the HD versions for a particular song ?

No. You can add a song or album to the cart only once. However, if you have chosen a song in MP3 format you may choose to add the HD format to the cart and vice versa as well.

You can add the song or album to the cart again, only if you have removed it from the cart.

I have added a few songs and albums to the cart while browsing through the Saregama Music Store from the desktop. Will I be able to access the same list while accessing the Saregama Music Store on my mobile device?

Assuming you login exactly with the same credentials, you will be able to view the items in the cart irrespective of the device you are browsing from.

If you have not logged in, on either one or both the devices, the items in the cart will not be in sync.

Can I remove any song or album from the cart?

Simply click 'X' next to any item to remove it from the cart.

I can see a download symbol on the top right hand corner of the screen. What is it?

Once you complete your purchase transaction, the songs/ albums, that you have bought, will be listed here.

You can download/ re-download your songs from here. You will be able to see a list of purchased content only if you are logged in.

You may choose to download the songs immediately or at any point in future.

I can see a number on the download manager icon. What does it indicate?

The number on the download manager icon indicates the total number of songs and albums that have been purchased and never downloaded.

Do I need the internet to download songs from the download manager?

Yes. You will need internet connectivity to download the songs that you have purchased.

I have downloaded a song once. Can I download the same song again?

Yes. You can download any song that you have purchased a maximum of 10 times. If you have exceeded this limit, and wish to download the same song again, you will have to re purchase it.

I had purchased and downloaded a few songs on my desktop, while browsing through the Saregama Music Store. I now wish to download the same songs on my Andorid device. What should I do?

You can download the songs on to your Android device by following the simple steps listed below:

  • Go to the Saregama Music Store
  • Login from your Android device with the same login credentials as you had used on the desktop
  • Go to the 'Download Manager' section
  • Download the songs that you have purchased
  • Access the downloaded songs from the Music Folder on your Android device

Will the songs that I download belong to me forever?

Yes. The songs that you have downloaded belong to you forever.

Why am I unable to download the songs that I have purchased on my iOS device?

The Apple ecosystem doesn't allow an iOS user to download music from any source other than iTunes. Therefore, you can buy a song from the Saregama Music Store but not download it to your iOS device.

If you wish to enjoy your purchased music on your iOS device, you will need to transfer these songs from your desktop/ laptop to your iOS device via iTunes.

Can I transfer the downloaded songs from my desktop to my mobile phone or any other device?

Yes. Once you purchase songs from the Saregama Music Store, you own these songs. You can freely transfer these downloaded songs from one device to another.

How do I buy a song/ album from the Saregama Music Store?

To buy a song/album from the Saregama Music Store, please follow the simple steps below:

  • Add a song/ album of your choice to the cart, click the 'Add' button
  • Go to the cart to review your wish list

Are the songs and albums priced differently on the desktop version and mobile version of the Saregama Music Store?

No. The prices of the songs and albums remain the same irrespective of the device you are accessing the Saregama Music Store from.

    Carvaan comes pre-loaded with 5000 evergreen Hindi songs and has the following features:

    Carvaan (the premium variant) comes along with all the features of Saregama Carvaan, in addition offers the following:

    The 'Saregama Carvaan' app is to be used along with the Carvaan (the premium variant) music player. This app enables you to browse through the library of 5000 old Hindi songs that is pre-loaded on the Carvaan (the premium variant) unit. In addition, the app allows you to search for your favourite song or even create playlists of your choice.

    How do I power on/ off Saregama Carvaan (the premium variant)?

    To power on/ off Carvaan (the premium variant), press the power button on the top right hand corner.

    What are the different colour variants available in Saregama Carvaan (the premium variant)?

    Currently, Carvaan (the premium variant) is available in Royal Blue, Oakwood Brown (India only) and Cherrywood Red(India only) colours.

    Can I answer phone calls via bluetooth on Saregama Carvaan (the premium variant)?

    There is no call answering feature. Carvaan (the premium variant) supports only Bluetooth pairing and music streaming via the Carvaan (the premium variant) speakers.

    How can I play music stored on my personal device (mobile phone/ tablet) on Saregama Carvaan (the premium variant) speakers?

    You can play music stored on your mobile phone/ tablet on Saregama Carvaan (the premium variant) speakers by either Bluetooth or plugging in an Aux cable in the Aux In port on the back panel of Carvaan (the premium variant).

    If you are using an Aux cable, please switch to Aux In mode on your Carvaan (the premium variant) by pressing the USB/AUX In mode button twice.

    What are the different modes available on Saregama Carvaan (the premium variant)?

    Carvaan (the premium variant) has 4 modes i.e. Saregama mode, Bluetooth mode, FM/AM mode and USB/Aux In mode. To switch to any of these modes, press the corresponding button on Carvaan (the premium variant).

    Here's a quick summary of what you can look forward to in each of these modes:

    • Saregama Mode: Enjoy 5000 pre-loaded songs from the Saregama catalogue spanning across categories like Artistes, Specials and Geetmala
    • Bluetooth mode: Stream songs on your personal devices like mobile phone, tablets via Bluetooth to Carvaan (the premium variant)
    • FM/AM mode: Tune in to local FM/AM channels.
    • FM is the default mode. You have been provided with an external antenna along with your Carvaan (the premium variant). Plug this antenna into the Aux In port for an even better quality of reception of the FM channels
    • To tune into AM, use any of the following options:

       If you are already in FM mode, press FM/AM button again to start AM

       If you are in any other mode, press FM/AM button twice

    • USB/Aux In mode: Plug your pen drive in to Carvaan (the premium variant) to enjoy your personal collection of MP3 songs. You can also connect an Aux cable in the Aux IN port on the back panel of Carvaan (the premium variant) to play songs from your phone/tablet.
    • USB is the default mode
    • To tune into Aux In mode, use any of the following options:

       If you are already in USB mode, press USB/Aux In button again to start AM

       If you are in any other mode, press FM/AM button twice

    When you power on Carvaan (the premium variant) for the very first time or reset it, it will automatically be set to the default mode i.e. Saregama mode.

    How do I navigate Artistes, Specials and Geetmala categories in Saregama mode?

    When you switch to Saregama mode, by default one of the stations from the Artistes category will start playing automatically.

    To switch to another category (Specials/ Geetmala), press the corresponding category button. To change stations within a category, turn the station selector dial left/ right.

    Here's a quick summary of the music that you can enjoy within each category:

    • Artistes - 65+ music stations dedicated to bollywood legends like Kishore Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar, Amitabh Bachchan, Dharmendra, Rekha, Hema Malini, Javed Akhtar, Mohammed Rafi and others
    • Specials – 15+ music stations covering themes and moods like Romance, Happy, Ghazal, Mangeshkars, Kapoors, Songs with Dialogues Sad etc.
    • Geetmala - 50 music stations spanning across five decades of the Geetmala Ki Chaon Mein collection by Ameen Sayani

    I can see a big dial on Saregama Carvaan (the premium variant). What is it?

    This dial is a station selector and allows you to switch between music stations.

    Here's how you can use the station selector across different modes:

    • Saregama mode: turn left/ right to change music stations when within Artistes/ Specials/ Geetmala category
    • USB/Aux In mode: turn left/ right to navigate across folders on the pen drive
    • FM/ AM mode: turn left/ right to change to previous/ next FM/AM channel

    Note: the station selector dial is disabled in Aux in mode and Bluetooth mode

    I can see <> buttons. What is it?

    <> buttons represent the previous/ next respectively.

    Here's how you can use these buttons across modes:

    • Saregama mode: go to previous/ next song
    • USB/Aux In mode: go to previous/ next song in USB mode. These buttons are disabled in Aux In mode<
    • FM/AM mode: go to previous/ next FM/AM channel
    • Bluetooth mode: <> buttons are disabled in Bluetooth mode.

    How do I change the volume on Saregama Carvaan (the premium variant)?

    There is a volume dial on the right side of Carvaan (the premium variant). Move the dial up/ down to change the volume. You can also use the remote that comes along with Carvaan (the premium variant) to change the volume. Alternatively, if you are playing music on Carvaan (the premium variant) using the Saregama Carvaan (the premium variant) app, you can use the volume button on your handset to change volume.

    What information is shown on the display panel?

    Here's the list of details shown on the display panel:

    a. Mode indicator

    • Saregama mode: the panel shows the name of music station and name of the song that is currently playing
    • Bluetooth mode: Bluetooth indicator on the panel will be displayed. In addition, you will also be able to see whether or not your Bluetooth device is currently connected to Carvaan (the premium variant)
    • USB mode: the panel shows the folder name and song name that is currently playing
    • Aux IN mode: the panel shows ‘AUX In’
    • FM/AM mode: FM/AM indicator on the panel will be displayed. You will also be able to see the frequency of the FM/AM channel that is currently being played

    b. Battery

         o Whenever Carvaan (the premium variant) is in use, the battery indicator will always be displayed on the panel

    c. Favourites

         o Any song marked as favourite, will be indicated with a ‘Heart icon’ on the display screen

    d. App connected

         o If the user is playing songs on Carvaan through the Carvaan (the premium variant) app, the display screen will show as ‘Playing from app’ and the song name

    What happens if I press the reset button?

    When you press the reset button, Carvaan (the premium variant) will be set to default factory settings. In this case, you will need to re-pair your Bluetooth device and choose the category/ station, you would like to listen to. The songs you have marked as favourites will be removed from the ‘Favourites’ station.

    What if I lose my warranty card?

    A warranty card is typically used to indicate the date of purchase. In case you lose the warranty card, you can provide us with original invoice for Carvaan (the premium variant).

    There is a light indicator next to the power button with a battery icon. What is it?

    The light indicator turns on when Carvaan (the premium variant) is being charged. This light is automatically turned off when the battery is fully charged.

    How do I pair my mobile phone via Bluetooth to Saregama Carvaan (the premium variant)?

    To pair your mobile phone to Carvaan (the premium variant), follow the steps below:

        o Press the Bluetooth mode button on the Carvaan (the premium variant) unit

        o On your mobile phone, turn on Bluetooth. Select 'Saregama Carvaan' from the list of available bluetooth devices

        o Your mobile phone will now get paired automatically with Carvaan (the premium variant)

    Once your mobile phone is paired, the display panel on Carvaan (the premium variant) will show 'BT Device Paired'.

    Please note: At any given time, you can pair only one device with Carvaan (the premium variant)

    I have connected my mobile phone and Saregama Carvaan (the premium variant) unit. However, I am unable to play songs through the Saregama Carvaan app on my unit. Why?

    If you have connected your mobile phone and the Carvaan (the premium variant) unit, ensure that you are in Saregama mode and not Bluetooth mode to play songs via the app on your unit.

    I am in Bluetooth mode. Can I stream songs from Saregama Carvaan (the premium variant) to my mobile phone?

    You can only stream music from your phone, laptop or any other Bluetooth enabled device to Carvaan (the premium variant).

    How do I listen to songs stored on my pen drive on Saregama Carvaan (the premium variant)?

    To play songs from your pen drive on Carvaan (the premium variant), follow the steps below:

        o Plug your pen drive into the USB port on the back panel of Carvaan (the premium variant)

        o Press the USB mode button

        o The first available song will start playing automatically

        o To move across folders on your pen drive, turn the station selector left./ right

        Please note:

        o Carvaan (the premium variant) supports pen drive upto USB version 2.0

        o You cannot play songs from external hard drives, mobile phones, laptops etc. on Carvaan (the premium variant). You can only play songs from pen drives with a storage capacity upto 64 GB

    I am tuned into FM/AM mode on Saregama Carvaan (the premium variant). However, the reception of the signal is not too great. What should I do?

    External FM reception depends on the strength of the signal in your area. If the location or area where you have kept the Carvaan (the premium variant) unit has a weak FM signal, there is a possibility that you may face interruption in FM output. To improve reception, you can insert that external antenna that comes along with Carvaan (the premium variant) into the Aux In port on back panel of Carvaan (the premium variant). We recommend that you do not put the unit on charge while listening to FM/AM as it will interrupt the signal.

    How do I set FM/AM channels on Saregama Carvaan (the premium variant)?

    To listen to an FM channel, follow the steps below:

        o Press the FM/AM mode button

        o The first available FM channel will automatically start playing

        o To switch to another FM channel, turn the station selector left/right or press the < > buttons

    To listen to an AM channel, follow the steps below:

        o If in FM mode, press FM/AM button again to start AM. If in any other mode press FM/AM button twice

        o The first available AM channel will automatically start playing

        o To switch to another AM channel, turn the station selector left/right or press the < > buttons

    Does Saregama Carvaan (the premium variant) come with a remote?

    Yes. Carvaan (the premium variant) comes with a remote.

    Please describe the functionality of the Saregama Carvaan (the premium variant) remote.

    You can use the remote in the following instances:

        o Mode selection: to select your preferred mode

        o Mark as favourite: to mark any song under Saregama mode as favourite or unmark the song as favourite

        o Category selection: to select your preferred category when in Saregama mode

        o Manage song playout: to move to the next/ previous song or play/ pause the song

        o Volume control: to increase/ decrease volume

    Can I power on Saregama Carvaan (the premium variant) from the remote?

    No. the remote does not allow you to power on/ off Carvaan (the premium variant).

    Which batteries can be used in Saregama Carvaan (the premium variant) remote?

    A CR2025 battery is used in Carvaan (the premium variant) remote.

    Does the remote come in different colours?

    No. The remote comes only in one colour.

    Is there any warranty on the remote?

    No. there is no warranty on the remote.

    I have misplaced/ lost the remote. What should I do?

    Is there any warranty on the external antenna?

    No. there is no warranty on the external antenna.

    I have bought an additional remote with no favourites button on it. However, it is not working with my Carvaan (the premium variant). Why so?

    Your Carvaan (the premium variant) maybe the one which supports the app and has an Aux In port. The remote you bought is an older version and hence, not compatible with your Carvaan (the premium variant) unit.

    How do I get the Saregama Carvaan app?

    Use one of the options below for help with downloading the app:

    • Go to Google Play store/ Apple App store and search for the ‘Saregama Carvaan’ app to download the app.

    • Click for a direct link to the app on your app store

         o Google Play store

         o Apple App store

    How do I connect the Saregama Carvaan app and the Saregama Carvaan (the premium variant) unit?

    You can connect the app and the Carvaan (the premium variant) unit by following the steps below:

    • Power on your Carvaan (the premium variant) unit
    • Press the Saregama mode button
    • Turn on the Bluetooth of your mobile phone and ‘allow new connections’ under the Bluetooth settings on your mobile phone
    • On your mobile device, go to the Saregama Carvaan app
    • Go to the ‘Bluetooth Settings’ tab on your app and press ‘Carvaan app’
    • The Saregama Carvaan app and the Carvaan (the premium variant) unit are connected

    I tried to connect my Carvaan (the premium variant) unit and the Saregama Carvaan app on my phone. However, I am unable to connect. Why?

    You can also look at the battery icon on the display panel for an indication of how much charge is available on Carvaan (the premium variant). If your Carvaan Mini is not functioning properly, please write to us on help@saregama.com . In response, we will send you an email with the address where you can send us the unit back with the original invoice copy. If the warranty is still valid and the product issue meets our warranty policy, we will replace or repair the unit.

What is the Warranty Policy?

Carvaan mini comes with 6 month Carry in warranty.

Warranty will be valid only when the Warranty Card or original Purchase Invoice is presented for service Accessories are not covered under warranty.

  • Saregama reserves the right to decline warranty service, if the above documents are not presented or if the information contained is incomplete or the Warranty Card is found to be tampered with
  • This Warranty shall not cover any damages resulting from un-authorized adaptations or adjustments to the product

  • This Warranty does not apply to normal wear and tear to the memory card, speaker, battery and display panel if the product is used in commercial, business, industrial, educational or rental applications

What is Replacement Policy?

The product will be replaced only if the product is still under warranty and the issue is found to be irreparable.

What is Dead on Arrival Policy?

Dead on arrival applies when a newly purchased product does not function at all. In such a case, it will be replaced free of costcost. However, such cases need to be reported within 10 days from the date of receipt of the product. To report such a case, email on feedback@saregama.com. mentioning these details; Name, Serial Number of the unit, issue with the unit.

Dead on arrival doesn't apply to the following cases:

  • If the product has been damaged / tampered/mishandled with by the customer

In this case, you will need to re-pair your Bluetooth device and re-set the category / FM - AM channel, you would like to listen to.

There is a light indicator below the charging port. What is it?

The light indicator turns Red when the unit is being charged. This light will turn Green once the unit is fully charged.

How do I pair my mobile phone via Bluetooth to Saregama Carvaan Lite?

To pair your mobile phone to Saregama Carvaan Lite, follow the steps below:

  • Press the ‘Mode’ button to switch to / or access Bluetooth mode on Saregama Carvaan Lite

How do I set FM channels on Saregama Carvaan Lite?

To listen to an FM channel, follow the steps below:

  • Press the ‘Mode’ button to switch to / or access FM mode
  • First time user:
    • The unit will automatically start tuning available channels. The screen will indicate ‘FM scanning’
    • Once the scanning is completed, the first available channel will automatically start playing.
  • Repeat user:
    • The last tuned FM channel will start playing.
    • To manually tune the FM channels – Enter FM mode & then press & hold the ‘Mode’ button for 2-3 seconds.

Catching of external FM signal entirely depends on the strength of the signal in your area. If the location or area where you have kept the Saregama Carvaan Lite has a weak FM signal, there is a possibility that you may face interruption in FM output.

How do I charge Saregama Carvaan Lite?

Saregama Carvaan Lite comes along with a USB Type C charging cable. Connect one end of the USB Type C cable to a 5V, 2A rating adaptor and the other end to the Type C port on the right panel of Saregama Carvaan Lite. Turn on the switch and Saregama Carvaan Lite will start charging, LED indicator will turn ‘Red’ to indicate the same.

It takes 2-3 hours to charge Saregama Carvaan Lite completely. The LED indicator light will automatically turn ‘Green’ when the battery has been fully charged.

A fully charged battery, should last for upto 5 hours of playout time.

If you wish, you can also detach the adaptor and plug the cable into an alternate USB port on your laptop, music system etc. to charge Saregama Carvaan Lite.

What is out of warranty?

Saregama Carvaan Lite comes with a 6 months warranty. Any issue occurring after the applicable warranty period will be treated as out of warranty.

After six months of the purchase, any service related issue will be treated as an out of warranty case and will be serviced basis the applicable service charge and price of spares applicable at that point of time.

I bought a Saregama Carvaan Lite but there is no serial number on the unit or the outer box. I am not able to activate warranty without the serial number. What should I do?

Serial number is mandatory for activating and availing the warranty of Saregama Carvaan Lite. Please note that warranty will stand invalid if the unit is found without a genuine serial number. The product will be treated as a non-genuine product and will not be considered by Saregama either for in warranty repair or out of warranty. In such a case, Saregama advises you to please return the product to the seller and take a product that has an intact serial number. A serial number is put up on the outer box as well as the bottom of the unit.

My Saregama Carvaan Lite is out of warranty now and the engineer told me to contact Saregama for the same. What should I do?

I have lost my invoice. How do I avail of the warranty?

Invoice is mandatory to avail the warranty. In case the invoice is not available, the complaint/ service request will be considered as out of warranty. I< >I buttons represent previous/next respectively. You can press these buttons to go to the previous/next song in any of the three modes.

You can also, press & hold the I< or >I button on the top panel of Carvaan Mini+ for 3-4 seconds to jump 10 songs backwards or forwards respectively when in Saregama mode or USB mode.

In the FM/AM mode, press the buttons to move to the previous/next FM/AM stations.

These buttons are disabled in bluetooth mode.

How do I change the volume level on Saregama Carvaan Mini+?

What happens if I press the reset button?

When you press the reset button, Carvaan Mini+ will be set to default factory settings. If you have paired any Bluetooth device with Carvaan Mini+ prior to using the reset function, you will need to re-pair the device.

There is a light indicator on the side panel of Saregama Carvaan Mini+. What is it?

The light indicator signifies that Carvaan Mini+ is being charged. The indicator light will be steady Red while charging and will be automatically turned off once the unit is fully charged.

I can sometimes see a red light blinking on the front panel of Saregama Carvaan Mini+. What is this light?

If Carvaan Mini+ is in use and you see a red light blinking on the front panel of the unit, it means that the battery is very low. Please connect the unit to a power source immediately to charge it.

I can sometimes see a steady blue light on the front panel of Saregama Carvaan Mini+. What is this light?

If Carvaan Mini+ is in use and you see a blue light on the front panel of the unit, it means the following :

  • When the songs is paused, the blue light will be steady.

Can I auto tune FM/AM stations?

To auto tune FM stations, follow the steps below:

  • Press FM/AM button to start FM
